This route is perfect for trekkers seeking a guided, sociable, and memorable journey to Uhuru Peak.

Itinerary

Expand all
Arrive at Kilimanjaro International Airport, where a friendly Zara representative will meet you and transfer you to Springlands Hotel in Moshi. Enjoy dinner and relax as you prepare for your adventure.
After breakfast, drive from Springlands Hotel to Marangu Gate. Once registration is complete, begin your trek through lush rainforest. Watch for colobus monkeys and exotic birdlife as you ascend to Mandara Huts. Hiking Distance: 8 km | Hiking Time: 4–5 hours
Continue the climb as the vegetation transitions from rainforest to heathland. With clear weather, enjoy stunning views of Mawenzi and Kibo peaks. Arrive at Horombo Huts for overnight rest. Hiking Distance: 11 km | Hiking Time:6-8 hours
Spend a valuable day at Horombo for acclimatization. Take a light hike towards Zebra Rocks (approx. 4,000 m) to help your body adjust. Rest and enjoy the mountain atmosphere Optional Hike: 3-4 hours
Trek through the alpine desert zone with views of the saddle between Mawenzi and Kibo. The air gets thinner here, so pace yourself and stay hydrated. Hiking Distance: 10 km Hiking Time: 6–8 hours
Start your summit attempt just after midnight. Ascend through the dark to Gilman’s Point, then push on to Uhuru Peak for sunrise at the roof of Africa! Descend back to Horombo Huts for a well-deserved rest. Hiking Distance: 18 km Hiking Time: 5-7 hours
Descend through the forest to Marangu Gate. After receiving your summit certificate, your driver will take you back to Springlands Hotel in Moshi for a relaxing evening. Hiking Distance: 18 km Hiking Time: 5-7 hours
After breakfast, transfer to Kilimanjaro Airport for your flight home—taking with your memories of a lifetime and the pride of reaching Africa’s highest point.
